The birth of our first grandchild

I’m so thrilled to announce that our daughter, Jenn, has blessed us with our first grandchild — a healthy, beautiful, big 10-pound, 3-ounce baby boy! And to make the event extremely special, Jenn and her husband, Matthew, invited us to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary and spend quality time with our new grandson, Stephen!

And while holding him and looking into his eyes, I forgot about all my health issues. There was something magical about witnessing a new human soul imprinting my image into his memories. It was like cancer didn’t even exist during that time, at least for a short time.

Matthew spent hours in the kitchen preparing a home-cooked roast beef dinner fit for royalty. And if that wasn’t already enough, Jenn and Matthew surprised us with a Disney cake and anniversary gifts! If you didn’t already know, we are big Disney fans.

We are incredibly blessed to welcome Stephen into our lives and look forward to making many memories we will cherish for a lifetime. The entire evening was very memorable and magical. Mary and I are incredibly proud grandparents, and we love Jenn, Matthew, and Stephen with all our hearts.

    1. Thank you, Julia. I can’t hear it enough as I’m so proud to be a first-time grandparent. I forget all about my cancer worries while holding him. God bless you too, my friend xx.

  2. Hi Gogs,

    So wonderful!

We are anticipating two grandbabies in early 2022. It’s feels like two firsts, if that makes sense. Your post makes me even more excited.

    Congratulations to you all!
