Prostate Cancer and The Power of Love

“We rekindled the fire in our relationship by writing love letters to each other. A great way to communicate when talking is difficult,” Gogs writes.

I remember anxiously awaiting in the doctor’s office for his arrival to review the results of my prostate biopsy. My wife was by my side, with her hand on my knee. The wait was stressful. I leaned over to her and complained, “The doctor shouldn’t keep us waiting this long.” She nodded and said, “You’re right. Waiting is brutal.” And then she put her head on my shoulder. Her calm nature and caring affection helped distract my mind. I thought about how blessed I was to have her love and support, no matter the biopsy results.

  1. Hi Gogs,

It’s wonderful your wife has been such a support for you and was the one who encouraged you to journal. And that ultimately led to you writing your book. She sounds very wise, caring and supportive.

Thank you for a lovely, touching piece. Keep writing.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Nancy. I’m blessed to have Mary. She sat patiently by my side while I wrote my book, and I owe her a lot of make-up time. And thank you for the encouragement to keep on writing. It warms my heart knowing others are reading.
